Combining a lifetime love of horses and fashion, and fueled by the dreams of a horse-crazy daughter, Sara Griot created O'Shaughnessey.  

O'Shaughnessey is about taking something good and making it better by adding a touch of the unexpected — sophisticated, yet playful, combinations of fine, lightweight European wools and vividly colored linings, created with careful attention to detail, and being mindful of tradition.    

Sara considers herself lucky on two counts. First, because she knew at a fairly young age that she wanted to design clothing professionally, and second, because she actually succeeded in doing it. Born and raised in California, she learned to sew when she was 9 years old. She pursued design as a career after finishing her education in art and design, and soon created her own clothing line under the label "Sara McNamara". Her line was sold in numerous boutiques across the country as well as in department stores such as Nordstrom, Saks, Garfinckel's and Macy's. Her clothing was featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Women's Wear Daily as well as local publications in Southern California.

After devoting time to raising her children, Sara has returned to the design world. The focus is still on beautiful fabrics and trims, but the emphasis is on classically styled hunt coats and shirts. Her designs combine function and fit with a splash of stylish detail, all designed with the competitive equestrian in mind.

About our products
Our hunt coats are made of the finest lightweight wool imported from Italy and Portugal. They include solids, subtle plaids, classic pinstripes and multi-stripes, tweeds and novelty patterns in beautiful colors. The coats are combined with a variety of linings such as polka dots, leopard, tartan plaids, paisleys and abstract designs that make a traditional wool take on a stylish yet sophisticated look.

We use several different types of buttons, all featuring a raised equestrian motif in either pewter, bronze or gold. We also feature covered buttons in solid wool and velvet (which will be available in our fall line.)

Our shirts are made of an exceptional quality of cotton in solids, checks, stripes and novelty patterns. Colors range from soft pastels to bold, saturated hues, combined thoughtfully with a contrasting pattern. Buttons are fabric covered or made from trocas shell.
